Called Casella Insight the new software is a complete rewrite of the earlier dB35 package and continues the development by the Casella engineers to provide an easy to use measurement system for workplace noise dosimetry.

The Insight program is a new database program using the popular MYSQL engine to hold the downloaded results from dBadge measurements. All of the features that customers told us they liked are present plus some significant additions and updates.

One of the key updates means that the new Insight program is now supported to run on the newer MS Vista and Win 7 operating systems as well as the hugely popular Win XP. This brings the whole measurement system right up to date and allows users who have upgraded their computers recently to upgrade their database program too.

Another key feature is that Casella Insight is not just a program to handle the results from the dBadge dosimeters, it will also allow the user to download runs from CEL-600 real time analyzers and Casella Apex or Tuff air sampling pumps. Different instruments are handled by a selection of Plugins that interface with each different instrument family and allow the user to get the best out of each of their capabilities.

There is a core set of features in the Casella Insight program itself and then the specific instrument Plugins bring out the best of each particular meter family. More Plugins for other popular Casella and CEL meters are in development and will enhance the software package in the near future.

The advantage of holding all the key measurement results in a single database is that comprehensive reports can be generated that include, for example, both sound level meter and noise dosimetry results for a company. This gives the the industrial hygienist a very powerful tool to make meaningful reports from the raw measurement data collected in the field.

The Casella Insight program is available with all CEL-350 dBadge kits or as a trial package to "try before you buy". The trial period runs with all functionality for a full 30 days and then a registration code is required to "unlock" the required Plugin to allow continued operation on a given computer. Licenses are available at very competitive prices and can be purchased as multiple packs for larger groups or organizations that have more than a single user.

For customers that have been using the earlier dB35 software there is a data  migration program that will copy across all the structure and the result database from the dB35 installation and copy them into Casella Insight. This makes it very easy to upgrade to the new program while keeping all the setup and results that have already been made.

If you would like to upgrade from dB35 to Casella Insight then simply call the usual Casella office number (800 366-2966) to request you own copy on a cd, try it out for 30 days and decide if you want to continue. If you do, and we are confident that you will, then simply purchase the registration code (or codes) depending on the number of instrument types and seats (users) that you want to include and the relevant passwords will be emailed to you.

If you are updating from a version of dB35 earlier than 2.03 then you may have to select TOOLS and OPTIONS and CEL-350 tab to re-enable the correct RS232 communication port as the versions at 2.04 and higher have the USB infra red interface selected by default. If your system is using the earlier RS232 infra red interface (with or without a USB to RS232 adaptor) then you will need to deselect the "Use USB interface" option which is just for use with the 193200B unit supplied by Casella.
