A new improved version of the firmware for the
dBadge has been released to further assist customers who are using the
new micro noise dosimeter. The new instrument firmware, now at version 1.06, adds additional
error checking during the download via the CMC39 infra red interface
adaptor. Some customers had reported trouble when downloading in varying
levels of background lighting conditions. The software engineers have now
added extra error checking during the transfer of the data blocks from the
dBadge
to the computer to minimize any failed data transfer.
If any errors now occur when sending a particular block of data due to
the presence of stray IR light in the area where the download is happening
then the software requests for the corrupted block to be resent until it is
received safely. This adds a very slight delay to the download when there
are many runs in the memory but significantly improves the reliability of
the download process on those occasional difficult situations where errors
are happening.
Due to the fact that IR light is invisible to the naked eye it is not
always possible to spot when this may be a problem so this new improvement
will help users get more reliable downloads should this problem arise.
All
dBadges returned to
Casella USA for annual recalibration will be automatically upgraded to the
latest version of firmware and a new install CD will be provided to go with
the kit of dosimeters. Otherwise, customers can download the small update
file here and carry out the firmware upgrade themselves. The process only
takes a couple of minutes per
dBadge
and uses the CMC39 IR adaptor to upload the new program into the instrument.
A help file is included, PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE HELP FILE BEFORE
STARTING THE UPGRADE!!
Click here to download the zipped
file to upgrade your own dBadges
too. Save the file in a temp folder on your hard drive then unzip the 3
files and follow the instructions given in the text file UPGHELP.TXT.
Read the Upgrade HELP file here
first before proceeding. All stored run data MUST be downloaded to dB35
BEFORE starting the upgrade as the memory will be lost after the upgrade has
taken place.
