In conjunction with the 2006 AIHA Industrial Hygiene show
Casella USA ran a simple competition at their booth. The prize was a
complete dBadge dosimeter kit including acoustic calibrator and software and
all the necessary accessories to make a thorough workplace noise survey.
All the entrants had to do was to complete a simple statement as follows; "I
would like to win a new CEL dBadge because...."
Answers, both serious and some not so serious were considered at the end
of the show and in the final analysis the prize went to Dave Steger of BDN
Industrial Hygiene Consultants from Portage in MI. Dave's answer was
considered to be the most thoughtful given during the 3 days of the show
although it was a very close run thing. In the end there were at least 6
other visitors who could also have won the prize so our thanks to all who
took the time to enter.
Dave's answer was "... because
I feel that the CEL-350 dosimeter is leading our
industry into the future of new technology. I have been very impressed with
the capabilities and the diversity of the measuring instrument. This also
has international capabilities to expand above and below the current
requirements."
One of the more humorous entries simply read "... because it will make me
look younger, slimmer and taller." A great answer we all thought but not
quite what we were looking for. Better luck next time though!
